Silent Auction:Rules and How to Bid! Please Read

Bidding Instructions
Okay the time has come 60% of the items are going up shortly! The rest will all be uploaded in the coming days. Thank you all for being so patient! The vendors’ donations are amazing! The auction will take place on this blog.
Okay only a “few rules”:
  1. Read every item description carefully. Some have a minimum starting bid and some do not include S & H. Please do not bid unless you can truly pay for the item. I do not need any more stress with travel to China just 4 weeks away…! Payment for the item, should you win, will be required within 48 hrs from the time you receive the invoice unless you have requested otherwise via e-mail to me (AKA you need to transfer funds). If payment is not received within the timeframe and I have sent (3 reminder e-mails) it will go to the next highest bidder.
  2. Payment- Should you win an item there will be a few ways to pay and I am still finalizing those   details now. We are waiting to hear back from one more grant foundation and should that come through all of the items you win would be tax deductible and you would be provided a tax receipt for your donation. Otherwise PayPal will be the method of payment and quite possibly another foundation that will take the donations for me. Hold tight on that and I promise to update the payment information by next Tuesday if not sooner! If you win just wait to hear from me. I will send you a confirmation e-mail but since it is just me doing this it may take 1-3 days!
  3. Please be respectful to the businesses and other bidders.  Any negative comment will be deleted on my blog. In the comments section under each post please only use that area to place a bid.
  4. Bid Mindfully! Remember this is a silent auction to save a child’s life.  Talia has a heart condition and blood disorder and we want to bring her home as soon as possible so that she can receive medical treatment.  The amount raised will go towards our final required fees in China.
  5. Most of the items do not have minimum bids and the only increment rule is that it can not be any less $1 under the current bid. For example if the current bid is $10 you can’t bid $10.25 it would have to be $11 or more.
  6. How to place a bid: You can bid on as many items as you want and there is no limit on the amount of bids. There are 2 ways but no matter which way you do it you need to e-mail me at mjpost32@gmail.com with your name and e-mail address with your first bid so that I know who you are or you can post your full name with your e-mail address under the comment.  If you just write “Julie” and win I have no clue who you are so you need to have an e-mail address with the bid or you need to e-mail me with it.
1.     Each item has its own post. Just hit the comment button and you will see another     person’s bid unless you are the first person to bid on an item. You need to bid higher than the current bid or minimum bid if there is one noted.
2.     Should you want to be an anonymous bidder e-mail me at mjpost32@gmail.com with your name and the amount of your current bid. You will then see a comment come through under the post with anonymous and a current bid. No one will know who you are! Some people have already asked me to be a private bidder so you can’t be private to me since I am running it but you can be “private” to everyone else!
You can find the item by item number on the side of my blog. They may not all be in numerical order due to various reasons but it is an easy way to keep up with an item without having to scroll to each page. Each post will have a title and in my blog post history you can view them all.

Vendors have 2 weeks to get the items to you unless they are custom. If there is a delay it is noted in the item description.
7.  The auction will run until Thursday, May 24th at 9:00 Eastern time. This is a real time auction and the comments and bids should post within seconds. Once we are 30 minutes out of closing time I will post and let you know what time my clock says and then I will do another 2 minute warning before the auction ends
8.  Should you have any questions or want detailed items on an item I can do my best to answer them or at least contact the vendor for you and get an answer. Please be patient. E-mail me at mjpost32@gmail.com
9.  Have fun! Sit back, relax and shop! Help spread the word as much as you can! If you haven’t shared any of our fundraisers yet this is the one to share! Things will continue to be uploaded the next several days.

It's coming...an amazing silent auction!

Hold on to your hats! There is just 24 hrs. before our silent auction is loaded up! We are so excited and I hope I can get everything up in time for a 7:00 PM (EST) upload! I have had so much fun seeing all the pictures come in. We are so blessed for everyone's generosity and let me tell you ladies you are going to have some major fun "shopping"!  After the auction ends I will post a resource list of all of the vendor's that participated, donated items to my girls or cut me some major breaks the past 2 years! It is just a small part I can do to "Thank" them! I hope you all help to support them as well when you need a new dress for you little one, a gift for a dear friend, a photography session, a children's class, artwork or even something for yourself!

Final Approval/Final decision/Final Big Fundraiser?

Well the time has come for some final decisions!  Since we have received Talia's file we have prayed to God for Him to make it crystal clear on who should travel to China. Well He made it crystal clear and it may not be the answer that I wanted to hear but He surely answered! Remember we pray for God's will to be done not for Him to make all our dreams come true...if that is what you are doing get yourself a fairy Godmother...lol!

So first it was just a financial issue we had a set amount being used towards the adoption, we fundraised like crazy (thank you everyone!), we applied for grants and I lost countless weekends to them and we knew that most likely we would just have enough to get Todd to China and back from China with Talia.  So we are about  $4500 of making this happen.  The travel and airfare in the summer to China is just out of hand. However we do not want Talia to wait a single moment longer as an orphan then she has to be.  Moreover,  with the current blood shortage in China we really don't want to put her life in jeopardy anymore should she need a blood transfusion.  Our final approval, the big final approval, is called the TA (Travel Approval). This is the green light from China to say yes you can come here and pick up your daughter!  You can finally hold her in your arms and love on her! So as we wait for our TA we will be having one more fundraiser (well I say one more it may be two more) but boy would we like to knock this out of the park!  We are hosting a silent auction on our blog starting this Wednesday!  We are just blown away by the items we have and know you will be too!  Should you want to donate a new item or service we are still taking donations and your company information will be on our blog! If you want more details just e-mail me at mjpost32@gmail.com

Well the 2nd big "no" you are not going to China from God was Harper's health. We always knew I would not go to China without my Harper bug.  The girl throws a screaming and crying tantrum when I leave her for 5 mins. with Todd as I run upstairs to get my laptop!  She loves her mommy and her daddy but she is just use to being with her mommy all the time. As young as she is I just can not leave her.  So the deal always was if Harper can't go mommy is not going.  The first big blow was the surprise amount of dental work Harper needed and the cost of that dental work.  All our reserve went out the window and I also surely was not taking her to China and risk her getting a dental infection in another country.  The next blow was the cardiologist telling me Harper's pulmonary stenosis has worsened and he was not giving her clearance to fly on a plane.  Sure we could hook her up to oxygen on the plane but we don't want to put her through that! I mean really on 8 different flights and in China...no way!  So it was from that point on God made it very clear that Todd should just travel.  I am totally fine with it well not really fine but "okay". Of course I want to be there and see Talia's face for the first time as she trepidatiously walks to us.  I know she will be scared and petrified of us and confused. I remember how much Harper grieved and she only wanted me. We do plan on doing lots of skyping so that she knows she has a mommy too!  Todd has been through this before so he knows the drill but it is sad not to be returning to my daughters birth country. I am quite jealous that he gets to experience all those wonderful emotions again but I have experienced all those wonderful emotions this past year with fundraising and the outreach of the adoption community, acquaintances, dear friends, even strangers I would "meet" every single day! I seriously have been on  Cloud 9 this whole year! I am overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received and the kind notes and e-mails and just pure love for my girls!  Your generous hearts and donations just were beyond my comprehension level. I knew God asked us to leap when we took Talia's file and I knew He would provide I just didn't know what it would look like! Thank you!

This week I am asking God to start preparing Talia's heart and mind for her new family that is so close to coming to her. I pray for Todd's sanity as he starts to prepare for his journey to Talia and we pray in thanksgiving for the generosity of the vendors that have donated their time and resources to make Talia's silent auction absolutely amazing!

New Pictures!

This is the best subject line you can ever read as an adoptive parent (well besides the LOA news)-"Update for Youngerman family"! I could not open up the files quick enough! Once I did my heart melted and then my fingers began to tremble with excitement as I forwarded them to him! I followed up with a phone call yelling "We got new pictures-go check! He didn't even have a chance to say "Hello"! She looks good and I love that wavy hair!

Isn't she darling? She is like a little lady! Stay strong little one you will be home with us very soon!

I can not wait to hear that giggle! We sent her the dress and doll so glad they gave it to her!

“We learned that orphans are easier to ignore before you know their names. They are easier to ignore before you see their faces. It is easier to pretend they’re not real before you hold them in your arms. But once you do, everything changes.” – Radical by David Platt.

Going Viral

Social media at it's best! This week I sat in amazement as over 200 people wrote to me wishing our daughter in China a "Happy Birthday". It was like Talia's birth date went "viral"! How cool is that? This little girl who only know a few people her whole life now has people praying all over the world for her safety, happiness and health. Talia turned 3 yesterday and well we celebrated. Harper told me that Talia would need a "pink" light up seahorse just like she has in order to sleep at night! Poor Talia -- I hope she likes pink and Cinderella because that is the only thing Harper picks out for her! Not a day goes by that Harper doesn't say "Mommy, Talia get a pink toy and be Cinderella!" It is too, too cute! I didn't have a sister so I am just bursting at the bits to see these two girls grow up together! I picture lots of  joy and laughter filling up our home! I just love to watch Todd play with Harper! I literally got teary eyed every time Todd takes Harper outside to play (okay maybe they are happy tears sometimes because it is the end of the day and this mommy is tired! ha!)There is just something about their connection and her sweet giggles as he throws her up in the air! She is such a happy little girl and we are so blessed to have her in our lives. I can't even fathom what her life would have been like if she stayed in China.  At least here she can follow her dreams and we can provide her with every resource possible to protect her heart and spine, and even more importantly, we get the opportunity to teach her about God's love.

Yes she holds her legs like she is a professional ice skater..ha!

Harper is already a wonderful big sister and when people mispronounce Talia's  (Tahl-lee-A) name (I know we didn't pick an easy name!) she corrects them. The other day Todd asked her, "Harper, do you really understand what it means to have Talia home with us? She will live with us forever!" Harper quickly responded with a a sigh and then said, "Yes dad. I have to share my mommy and daddy with her!" It was so funny and I think she is sick of us constantly saying Talia is coming home soon and you will have to share everything you have with her, except your monkey! She has known about her for almost a year now and although this has been a long adoption journey the past 4 months have flown by and I feel like we are in scramble mode for the trip, expenses, paperwork and then of course all the other things that go along with a 2nd child-getting a crib, car seats, high chair, etc.  After next week we will be waiting on our final approval for China! So hard to believe that we are about 6 weeks away from bringing her home! Here are some pictures of Talia's 3rd birthday here in the USA without her :(
Harper was very careful to make the "pink" card perfect for her sister!

Happy 3rd Birthday Sweet Angel (Sorry your big sis enjoyed your birthday treat for you!)
We actually were blessed with a new picture of Talia last week! She is the one hogging
all the balloons! It seems she is quite the princess..ha! Well I would like to think they remembered her birthday there in China but in reality I know they did not! Sometimes it is better to daydream and have happy thoughts during the rough days of waiting then it is to deal with the reality of the situation. Soon enough she will be in our arms and all my daydreams will be a reality!

As we celebrated Talia's birthday we also celebrated another adoptive family who is adding 2 more children to their family. We need to step up our adoption announcements! Take a look! This video has gone viral the past few days and I promise you never saw anything more heart warming before! I was in tears and jumping up and down for this family and will be cheering them on until they bring those precious children home! This family is truly living out God's plan for them. We get a lot of e-mails talking about Todd and I being angels but quite honestly we are the same people you knew before whether it be from high school, college, etc. (and well not sure we were "angels" then... ha!) We just do not follow our plan for our lives anymore we follow God's plan and I can tell you life is so much more fulfilling, stress free and exciting! I am not saying every person should adopt (but hey I would love it if you did!) I am just talking about your calling and living it out! We are all called to be doing something and some of us know right away what it is and others need to do some soul searching and go through some dark times to get there! So many people don't realize how one small step can be such a life changer for millions! With that said this is one of the many families that surely inspire us! (Pause my music player way down at the bottom and then hit play here-you have to hear the song!)

How cool was that? right? Love it! Here is their blog should you want to follow along on their journey as well! http://www.abeautifulroad.com/

So just as life's joys can be shared all over the Internet, sadly so can all the horrors of this fallen world. I know some people reading this are not versed in China and its slaughter of babies so read this article and you will soon realize how out of control and inhumane life is over there and remember this is just one country! Can you imagine what happens in all the others that we don't hear anything about? I know you don't want to think about it... but someone has to! This can't go on and to me we are just as wrong for putting this in the back of our minds and thinking this does not affect my life, so who cares!? I tell you who cares the children in dying rooms, the children that are not old enough to speak to say that they are hungry, the children that are lying in a street gutter with their umbilical cord still attached because they were "pushed out" to early! And of course the mothers care! The mothers who have to live the rest of their lives feeling like they didn't protect their child. Or once they get past the first trimester and they start to show with their 2nd child they wonder not if, but "when", a  government official will take them to the streets and brutally inject them with something to miscarry their child. Some might even make it full term only to hear their baby cry for the first time and then watch them be drowned in a bucket of water! You may wonder what was the crime these women committed for such brutal attacks of outsiders into their homes. Their crime was having a 2nd child! If the majority of these women are lucky enough to avoid such a horror then they have to worry for the rest of their pregnancy if  their family will disown them because they gave birth to a baby girl with deformities instead of a "perfect male". The list goes on and on but here are the facts of this article:

In China about 13 million abortions are performed nationwide each year, that equals about 35,000 a day! 35,000 a day people!

http://edition.cnn.com/2012/04/30/world/asia/china-forced-abortions/index.html?hpt=hp_t2

Just in case you don't have time to read the whole article today read this excerpt from it!

"In one example from October 2010, the commission said, a woman in southeastern China who was eight months pregnant with her second child was kidnapped and detained for 40 hours. She was forcibly injected with a substance that caused the fetus to abort. Her husband reportedly was not permitted to see her during this time, the commission said.

Nothing in human history compares to the magnitude of China's 33-year assault on women and children!

I was sickened by the article, not because I didn't know the information. I have known about the happenings in China since high school. I was sickened because I knew it would make CNN headlines for a few days people would highlight it (as I did on my Facebook status) and then it would disappear. Just like the pictures circulating last month with the dead baby in a bucket in China! You see people forget or their day to day lives get them down and before they know it years pass and they did not take that single step to do the right thing! The humane thing! Ironically enough I am going to grab a quote from Confucius  "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." Consider taking that single step today!

The internet is pretty darn powerful giving statistics, spreading messages of love and hope and stories we can all relate to but other times the viral load can be too much. The stories can be too harsh yet we want more, we crave more information isn't that why we "google"?!  This week maybe more is less...just look at those staggering numbers of children that were never given a chance.

This week I ask for prayers for the unborn children in China, for the mothers and their safety and for my body which is "going viral"! At the age of 27 I was diagnosed with Chronic fatigue Syndrome (yes it is a real illness!) It is not life threatening but it surely is life altering and it really deserves its own post. Someday I will get around to it! From time to time I get fatigue and fever episodes that can last days or months. It seems I am in one of those "modes" so if you could please pray for God to strengthen my body especially as we prepare for Talia I would very much appreciate it! Have a wonderful week and stay tuned for our final fundraisers to bring home Talia!
